This page has some of the basic moves to get you on your way to a breakdancing professional...
This page includes the following moves:

Six Step
X Swipe

  Six Step

This very move is the basis of breakdancing, and it's the one thing people do when they first hit the floor. This move looks like your sitting down with your legs flying around you.

How To Start:
Start in a push up psoitio, but have your feet spread about two or so feet apart. You don't have to start this way, but it is a very easy way for beginners to learn.

Step One:
Lift your right hand up, and then slip you're left leg through where you're hand used to be.

Step Two:
Put you're right leg forward so that you're knee touches the inside of your left leg.

Step Three:
Pull your left leg into a keeling position. How you accomplish this is up to you. You should be on your toes.

Step Four:
This is the fairly complicated part. Try to follow along... You want to swing your right leg in a WIDE arc. Your right leg should be straight and circling to meet your left leg.

Here's where it gets a little tricky. You should switch hands now. You should have been balancing most of your weight on your left hand in the previous step. In order to keep your right leg straight, continue to arc in a wide circle, this is essential.

Step Five:
This is easy when done slow, but try doing this fast. From step four, extend you're LEFT LEG FIRST, keeping your right leg in.

Step Six:
Now you can extend your right leg. Guess where you are now?? Back to the starting position.

Congratulations, you have the "Six step" down!

  X Swipe

This is a "Swipe" but with you're legs kept crossed. It's hard to get the momentum though if you don't do it from a "Six step".

Step One:
Sit so that you're in a crab position (palms on the floor behind you, but off the floor. Your back should be facing the ground).

Step Two:
Cross your legs so that you're right leg is under you're left leg.

Step Three:
Swing as hard as you can right hand over to your left side but shoulder width apart.

Step Four:
Now lift your left leg to the left and kick that same leg more with you're right leg. (your actually have to *kick* the bottom of your left leg with your right in order to get momentum.)

Hints:
When you cross over you should land with your legs the same way that you started with, and you're upper body facing the ground.

Do this when you're doing a "Six step", it's easier to get height with the momentum from the second step.
